Essential Orchestral Works

This book started as a series of programme notes written over the years for classical concerts Keith Horsfall conducted or organised. When we looked at them in the round we realised they constituted a resource which a classical music enthusiast might well find useful and appreciate to supplement his or her listening experience. So here they are in a single volume.

Keith Horsfall has spent a lifetime in music. He is a cellist, writer, orchestral player, conductor and teacher and down the years he has been worked with the full range of classically trained musicians, from some of the world's finest orchestras through to local amateur and youth groups. He believes that music should be approachable even for the uninitiated and writes in a style that hopefully brings a greater degree of clarity and understanding to the listener.
