Consulting engineer Holzman explains how to make sure that when electrons in a high-frequency circuit are finished with the task they were sent out to accomplish, they have a path back to base that is easier than any other path they may happen to encounter. He uses simple derivations and results from numerical electromagnetic simulations of real microwave components to focus the reader's attention on the path taken by any neglected flow of electrons. Eric Holzman is a consulting engineer in the Advanced RF Product Technology Department of Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems. Previously, he was a senior engineer at YDI Wireless. Dr Holzman is a Senior Member of the IEEE, former reviewer for the Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, and past Chairman of the IEEE’s Antenna/Microwave Philadelphia Chapter. He earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles, all in electrical engineering.
