She received her MSW from San Diego State University and her Ph.D. in social work from the University of Southern California. She has conducted research and published numerous articles in the areas of strength-based practice with high risk youth/families and self-care for human service professionals. She has extensive experience as a clinical social worker, clinical supervisor, and program director serving youth in the juvenile justice, child welfare, and mental health systems. Dr. Cox is the lead author of Self-Care in Social Work: A Guide for Practitioners, Supervisors, and Administrators.
