This is the fourth edition of this textbook, which preserves features of the previous edition that most readers found satisfactory. Part One has been reorganized to include analyses of the grounds of moral responsibility in addition to the competing theories of the standards of moral right and wrong. As in previous editions, this books consists of four parts, the first and last parts exploring general ethical perspectives and the middle two parts focusing on specific modes of conduct. Competing analyses are presented for each topic, so that the reader can weigh the arguments for and against different points of view and come to an informed decision.
