About the Authors

Christiane Schwab ist Professorin für Empirische Kulturwissenschaft und Europäische Ethnologie an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München. Seit Mai 2020 leitet sie das Projekt „Dissecting Society. Nineteenth-Century Sociographic Journalism and the Formation of Ethnographic and Sociological Knowledge“ (ERC). Neben der Geschichte der Sozial- und Kulturwissenschaften ist ein weiterer Schwerpunkt die Stadt- und Regionalforschung. In diesem Bereich leitet sie derzeit das Projekt „Wem gehört die Straße? Urbane Aushandlungen um Mobilität und Raumnutzung im Kontext der ‚Verkehrswende‘ als gesellschaftlicher Transformationsprozess“ (DFG).

Frauke Ahrens (M.A.) ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin und Doktorandin am Institut für Empirische Kulturwissenschaft und Europäische Ethnologie der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Seit 2020 ist sie dort im ERC-Forschungsprojekt „Dissecting Society. Nineteenth-Century Sociographic Journalism and the Formation of Ethnographic and Sociological Knowledge“ tätig. Seit 2022 arbeitet sie zudem für das DFG-Projekt „Akteur*innen – Narrative – Strategien. Konstellationen einer transnationalen Folklore-Forschung, 1875–1905“.

Karin Riedl promovierte am ethnologischen Institut der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München über das kulturelle Konzept der „freien Liebe“ im Kontext des Neoliberalismus. Zudem war sie Postdoktorandin im ERC-Forschungsprojekt „Dissecting Society. Nineteenth-Century Sociographic Journalism and the Formation of Ethnographic and Sociological Knowledge“ am Institut für Empirische Kulturwissenschaft und Europäische Ethnologie der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen die Konstruktionen von Indigenität im Peru des 19. Jahrhunderts, die Beziehung zwischen Nicht-Monogamie und Neoliberalismus sowie die Aneignung des Schamanismus in der modernen Kunst.
