Private blaue Leinenbände. Mit zahlreichen s/w Diagrammen. Diese Erstausgabe ist vollständig äußerst selten zu finden. Die einheitlich nachgebundenen Leinenbände sind ordentlich erhalten. Die Buchrücken sind ausgeblichen und die Einbände minimal berieben, Band 5 unten am Rücken etwas bestoßen und 2 mm eingerissen, sonst handelt es sich um ein gutes Exemplar mit nur leichten Gebrauchsspuren. Textsauber und aus einem Nichtraucherhaushalt. 2 Bände mit kleinem Namenseintrag auf der Titelseite. Text zweisprachig in Altgriechisch und Latein. Johan Ludvig Heiberg, dänischer Mathematikhistoriker und Klassischer Philologe, ist bekannt für grundlegende kritische Ausgaben griechischer Mathematiker. Er brachte die hier vorliegende erste kritische Ausgabe der Elemente heraus, die auf dem in der Vatikanbibliothek von François Peyrard entdeckten Manuskript beruhte. The uniformly rebound cloth bindings are in good condition. The spines are faded and the covers show minimal wear. Volume 5 is slightly bumped at the bottom of the spine and has a 2 mm tear. Johan Ludvig Heiberg, a Danish historian of mathematics and classical philologist, is known for his seminal critical editions of Greek mathematicians. He published the first critical edition of The Elements, based on the manuscript discovered in the Vatican Library by François Peyrard. Heiberg's text formed the basis for modern translations.
