About the Author

Born in the Bronx, I grew up in southern Connecticut, lived in Manhattan for a while, and in 1962 saved my life by moving to San Francisco. I was a substitute teacher in SF middle schools and high schools for many years, and for the last few years have been living in Los Angeles.
