Saint Eug�ne de Mazenod knew both wealth and poverty. Born into a noble French family, he experienced the onslaught of the French Revolution and was thrust into exile at a young age. His family moved from one Italian city to another, until divorce ripped Eug�ne's family apart.

Eug�ne spiraled downward into a spiritual crisis as he pondered his place in the world. Through God's grace, Eug�ne rediscovered his faith. He founded the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate and eventually became bishop of Marseilles. Saint Eug�ne refused to let the pains of his youth stop him from realizing God's will in his life.

All who feel abandoned may look to Saint Eug�ne. This book is a powerful example of not being defined by the struggles one must endure in this life.
