He created the popular Outlanders science-fiction series and wrote Justice Machine, Death Hawk, Doc Savage, The Wild, Wild West, and H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu, among many other comic book and graphic novel series.

Melissa Martin Ellis served as the art director of Millennium Publications, a comic magazine publisher, designing such popular titles as Anne Rice's The Mummy, Doc Savage, and Nosferatu: Plague of Terror.
