Add to basketPink Floyd are among the most iconic and influential rock bands in the world. Their sonic ambition, lyrical sophistication, and structural innovation are unparalleled in rock music. Since forming in 1965, the band has released fifteen studio albums and sold more than 250 million records worldwide. Their eighth album, The Dark Side of the Moon, remains one of the best-selling British albums of all time.
In Everything Under the Sun, Mike Cormack takes an in-depth look at the music of Pink Floyd, offering the first serious critical appraisal of the band’s extraordinary achievements. He also places their work within the broader social and political landscape of the UK, examining the band through the lens of the era in which they evolved. Alongside detailed, song-by-song analysis, the book includes exclusive interviews, a complete chronology and gig guide, and a comprehensive bootleg guide.
Everything Under the Sun is the definitive account of the career of rock’s most emotionally powerful and intellectually articulate band.
Mike Cormack is from the north of Scotland and has had a lengthy media career, mostly focusing on China, where he first arrived in 2007, but also writing on politics, music and business. He was the books editor for thechinaproject.com, the leading English language website about China, and an occasional book reviewer for The Spectator, the Times Literary Supplement and South China Morning Post amongst others. Mike is a life-long, second-generation fan of Pink Floyd. Despite his love of books, music is his main passion, where he likes everything from heavy metal to disco to jazz to Abba.
