Evgeny Onegin. Inscribed by Agnes Maisky. One of 25 unnumbered copies. Translated by Oliver Elton.

A good copy of the limited edition, bound in quarter leather but missing the slip case. The limited edition comprised 775 copies, of which 750 were numbered; this copy is one of the 25 which were not numbered and is marked 'not for sale' (please see image of limitation page). This copy has been inscribed and signed on the recto of the limitation page by Agnes Maisky, wife of Ivan Maisky, who was the Soviet Union's ambassador to the UK from 1932 to 1943. Ivan Maisky's name is also handwritten (see image), but whether by himself or his wife is unclear (there are probably enough differences in the formation of the letters to indicate his signature). Illustrated by M.V. Dobujinsky. There is a bit of rubbing to the leather spine and to the 4 outer corners; there is also some foxing to the front free endpaper. Overall, though, this is a good copy of one of the 25 unnumbered copies, with an interesting Russian association. The slip case is not present.
