This volume focuses on the intersections between institutions and actors in shaping innovative workplace conflict management practices, featuring scholarship centered on various countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Ireland, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The intention of the volume is to synthesize a global body of research into conflict management undertaken by labor and employment relations scholars and also to assess the current state of employment relations research in this area. In doing so, the volume seeks to provide a road map for where research in this area has been and where it should now be headed.

Ariel Avgar is the David M. Cohen professor in labor relations, law, and history, and senior associate dean for Outreach and Sponsored Research at the ILR School at Cornell University. His research focuses on two primary areas within employment relations. First, he explores the role that employment relations factors plays in the healthcare industry. Second, he studies conflict and its management in organizations, with a focus on the strategic choices made by firms.
Deborah Hann is a reader in employment relations at Cardiff Business School. Her research focuses in two main areas: dispute resolution in the workplace and the real living wage as a form of civil regulation. She has undertaken research in conjunction with the UK Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service; the Labour Relations Agency, the Civil Medication Council, and the Living Wage Foundation.
Ryan Lamare is the Reuben G. Soderstrom professor of industrial relations in the School of Labor and Employment Relations at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His main research interests include the relationship between union and nonunion voice and politics, workplace dispute resolution in the labor and employment arenas, and international and comparative industrial relations.
David Nash is a reader in employment relations at Cardiff Business School. His research involves a number of international and UK projects, with a focus on employment regulation and workplace conflict resolution. He has undertaken research projects for the Living Wage Foundation; the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service; and the Labour Relations Agency.
