Evolutionary Game Theory (Paperback). This item is unavailable.Evolutionary Game Theory (Paperback)

Evolutionary Game Theory: Approaches and Applications in Evolutionary Biology demonstrates the real-world use of mathematical games for solving problems and enhancing our understanding of trends in evolutionary biology. Building upon the basics of the classic theory on games, this is an accessible guide to applying games to evolutionary biology research and studies.

This book emphasizes the phenotypic approach to games for better understanding evolution. It begins by covering static games, including the Hawk-Doves and Snowdrift games, followed by dynamic games such as the Axelrod theory, differential games, and adaptive dynamics that combine ecological and evolutionary feedbacks. Evolutionary invasion analysis is also discussed, focusing on examples like the evolutions of viruses and parental care.

Evolutionary Game Theory: Approaches and Applications in Evolutionary Biology is an ideal resource for readers seeking to learn and apply various game theories to evolutionary biology. Researchers, practitioners, and advanced students in evolutionary biology can benefit from this book.

• Provides a contemporary and mathematical approach to analyzing game theory in evolution
• Includes game summaries, insight on various theories, and applicable examples and guides for each game
• Contrasts static and dynamic approaches to evolutionary games
• Highlights advances and discoveries made for better understanding and applying game theory in practice

Dr. Michael Bonsall is a Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Oxford. He received his PhD and held a Royal Society Fellowship in the Department of Biological Sciences at the Imperial College London. Dr. Bonsall’s research focuses on population biology, including population dynamics, community ecology, and evolutionary ecology; he also researches evolutionary dynamics of life history strategies, the role of spatial structure on shared enemy and competing enemy interactions, the effects of enrichment on the diversity of ecological communities, and more. He has published over 180 peer-reviewed papers and currently serves as the subject editor for Evolution and Ecological Entomology.
