Exam Preparation for Firefighter I and II

Exam Preparation for Firefighter I & II offers aspiring firefighters the essential practice they need to successfully pass any certification exam. Based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, the book guides the learner through various phases of testing, beginning with comprehension questions, application and analysis, and then following up with evaluation questions. Each phase includes three, 100-question exams to allow learners to practice answering questions at each level, as well as target areas needed for further study. The answers are provided following each exam, and each question is accompanied by references to the Firefighter’s Handbook, 2nd Edition, the NFPA Standard 1001, 2002 Edition, as well as insightful rationale that encourages self-study. A final exam consisting of 200 questions of the various types, is also included at the end of the book, once learners have mastered the previous levels.

Chris Hawley is a Deputy Program Manager for Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and is responsible for several WMD courses within the DOD/FBI/DHS International Counterproliferation Program. Previous to his international work, Chris retired as a Fire Specialist with the Baltimore County Fire Department and was responsible for the coordination of the Hazardous Materials Response Team and the Advanced Technical Rescue Team along with two team leaders. Chris has designed innovative programs in hazardous materials and anti-terrorism and has assisted in the development of many other training programs provided by the National Fire Academy, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and U.S. Secret Service.

Andrea Walter is a firefighter/technician with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and a life member and former officer of the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad. She has been active in the fire and emergency services community for over twenty years and has served as the Manager of the Commission on Fire Accreditation International for the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and assisted in a variety of projects with the National Volunteer Fire Council, Women in the Fire Service, and the United States Fire Administration.

Marty Rutledge is a Firefighter/Engineer and EMS Program Manager for Loveland Fire and Rescue in Loveland, Colorado. Marty is a member of the Fire Certification and Advisory Board to the Colorado Division of Fire Safety, serving also as the State First Responder program coordinator. He is also a member of the Colorado State Fire Fighter's Association and has over 11 years of fire and emergency services experience in both volunteer and career ranks. Marty also authored and served as technical expert for a supplementary firefighter training package for Delmar Learning¿s Firefighter's Handbook.
