It igves a brief, but accurate and scientific, descriptions of all the plants commonly found in the British Isles. The two main features of the book are the keys and the descriptions. The keys include almost all the native, many naturalized and a few casual species, and show at a glance which species are included in the descriptions. The descriptions treat all species common in lowland districts of the British Isles, and some rarer species likely to be found near field centres and field stations. They are more concise than in the big Flora of the Brtish Isles, omitting details which only concern the advanced student, but are as exemplary in method and detail with no sacrifice of scientific standards.
