If You Expect The Unexpected, Then It Won’t Be Unexpected Anymore: A Perfectly (Un)Expected Collection of Short Stories

"If You Expect The Unexpected It Won't Be Expected Anymore" is Matty Millard's second book, and I can tell already - you don't know what to expect!

It's a selection of short stories, featuring the prize-winning short story "Weapons of Mass Destruction." Times Best Selling crime author Tim Weaver's comments on the story were “The clear winner. Brutal, funny, inventive, this cross between Grange Hill and The Hunger Games is wonderfully evoked. Its rules are clear, its characters fleshed out, there’s pace, tension and a suitably jet-black twist.”

Each of the five stories in this collection have a big twist. Some of the stories are funny, some are dark and some are spooky - so there's something for everyone!

Have you ever experienced the corrupted underground scene of high school conkers? Gambling, dirty dealings, blackmail?

Ever met the girl of your dreams but wondered whether she's a vampire?

Have you ever met a dragon... made of cake?

If not, get yourself involved in Matty's latest web of intrigue - and find out which has the most unexpected (or expected?) twist.

Hi, I'm Matty Millard, an off-the-wall fantasy author from the West Midlands, England.

I grew up reading Roald Dahl, Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams - and my sense of humour certainly reflects this.
My first novel "In That Other Dimension" was released in January 2014, and I am planning on releasing my next novel in 2023. My novels certainly relate to the above authors - they are fun, tongue in cheek sci-fi / fantasy novels and not to be taken too seriously!
As I've got older I enjoy a much wider range of books. Kurt Vonnegut, Fiona McIntosh, Martin Millar, Robin Hobb, Brent Weeks and of course Tolkien are some of my favourites.
My short story collection "If You Expect The Unexpected, It Won't Be Unexpected Anymore" reflects the variation in my reading, with stories that overlap sci-fi, fantasy and crime genres. They are still unique to me - as every story includes a huge twist!
I hope you enjoy my writing, and if so please find me on social media and let me know!
