(line drawings and photographs) describing the expedition of the Cuban Speliological Society to the mountainous Pico Turquino region on Cuba's southern Coast with details of its inhabitants, climate, vegetation etc. Signed by the author who is shown in several of the photographs of the expedition team and dedicated to the later head of the Mexican National Museum Rafael Orellana. Antonio Nunez Jimenez (1923-1998) is better known as a rebel captain who served in the forces of Che Guevara in the late 1950's and later became minister of Agrarian Reform and President of the National Bank. He is frequently to be seen alongside Che Guevera in the iconic photographs of the Cuban revolutionary. Printed card wrappers, a little toning of page margins else near fine. The inscriptions on the preface page reads "Al anthropologa mexicano Rafael Orellana, Afectionamente A, Nunez Jimenez, Mexico 16-Dec-48" 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾".
