Numerous states, duchies, and republics formed a complex grid where families, with the help of condottieri (mercenary army leaders), succeeded one another in vying for control: the Medici in Florence, for example, a doge in Venice, the Montefeltro for the Duchy of Urbino, included in the Papal States dominated by the Pope, or the highly coveted Kingdom of Naples. These republics or duchies extended around the cities from which they took their names and sometimes encompassed very large territories. Those belonging to the Church were immense."--Page 4 of cover.

We have about 1000' of backlog in our specialties numbering over 30,000 items (including 20,000+ smaller and ephemeral catalogues devoted to individual artist exhibitions). Current stock occupies over 2.3 miles of shelving. We are active buyers as well as very active sellers, and supply entire reference libraries as well as individual titles. We ship books almost everywhere, with the exception of China due to restrictions. Our website mullenbooks.com maintains our entire database of over 150,000 titles dynamically, so you can submit "wants" for books which are listed, but not currently in-stock. We love our books and our customers, but we simply cannot afford to be a lending reference library.

SHIPPING: USPS shipping rates are not determined by the purchaser. All quoted shipping costs from ABEare based on a 4-pound package. If your shipment is over 4 lbs. it will be adjusted before shipping. If it needs to be increased, we will contact you through ABEbooks and request an increase to cover our costs, which include postage materials and time. Mullen Books will make the final determination on carrier based on cost and delivery dates unless given specific instructions from the buyer PRIOR to the calculation of shipping costs.
