Later morocco, gilt and blind-tooled frames and gilt-stamped institutional name and seal to boards, gilt spine with raised bands and lettering piece, gilt tooling to outer and inner board edges, edges of text block gilt, marbled endpapers. Light rubbing and scuffing to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities, lettering piece and spine head chipped, corners bumped and worn, hinges cracked, library bookplate and small circular sticker to front pastedown, front free endpaper removed. Light toning to interior, occasional light foxing, small ink library stamps to title page and a few other leaves, legibility not affected, early (illegible) ownership signature to head of title page. $1,850. * Only edition. Written by a member of Gray's Inn, this guide to pleading before the House of Lords covers topics such as retaining counsel, presenting appeals, writs of error, claiming English and Scotch peerages and avoiding "scandalous and frivolous" cases. It includes forms for pleading and a list of fees.
