Preliminary Draft 1, April 29, 1955. 15 leaves. Mimeographed. Staple bound. With: Appendix A. Illustration of Proposed Research Methods and Projects, by the same authors. No date. Mimeograph. 19 leaves. Staple bound. Both in VG condition though there is some dulling/slight browning of the paper due to the reprographic process. This work is associated with the Cornell Peru / Vicos project and with mid-1950s efforts to apply behavioral science to planned social change and regional development. "(This study) was about using field-based, intervention-oriented social science—not just observation—to study and guide modernization in rural communities. The Vicos project in Peru is the key context: researchers were trying to understand how peasant communities changed under new educational, economic, health, and political arrangements, and to treat that change almost as a large-scale social experiment."--Wikipedia.…
