Experiments Concerning Tuberculosis, Vol. 1: Under the Supervision of the Biochemic Division (Classic Reprint)

Discover how human and bovine tuberculosis bacilli compare in virulence for guinea pigs and rabbits.

The book presents Part I of a bulletin that studies the virulence of tubercle bacilli from human and bovine sources in small experimental animals. It also includes observations on the morphological and cultural characteristics of the bacilli, connecting lab findings to broader questions about transmission and disease.

These experiments frame a larger project that examines how different origins and cultivation methods influence virulence, and how results in guinea pigs and rabbits inform understanding of tuberculosis across species.

• Compare virulence of human and bovine tubercle bacilli in guinea pigs and rabbits.
• Explore how culture media and growth conditions affect bacilli morphology and behavior.
• Learn about observed changes in the bacilli from different sources and cultures.
• See how early findings relate to the question of intertransmissibility between human and bovine tuberculosis.

Ideal for readers of veterinary science, medical history, and microbiology.
