Get a Deep Understanding of the Neuroimmune Science of Pain to Help Patients Experiencing Chronic Pain
For clinicians and anyone working with pain patients, Explain Pain Supercharged offers the latest background information on neuroimmune science, conceptual change theory, and educational science; everything that is required to use the Explain Pain suite of tools to deliver optimal outcomes for individuals experiencing chronic pain.
The understanding of pain is a powerful adjunct to physical medicine and rehabilitation. In this book, authors Lorimer Moseley and David Butler apply their unique style to take the neuroimmune science of pain further than ever before, providing a deep understanding of the neuroimmune biology of pain with over 100 ready-to-use clinical metaphors and therapeutic narratives.
In Explain Pain Supercharged you’ll learn:
- to question your own theories, form solid theories, and set up a methodical way of thinking
- to recognize metaphors and learn how to enrich them as part of your therapeutic narrative
- the intricacies of the somatosensory system including the role of all skin receptors, ion channels, nociceptors, neuroimmune coupling, inflammation, and central sensitization 2.0
- to develop a collection of easily adaptable therapeutic narratives that translate complex science into digestible nuggets
- how to find out which level of misconception the learner holds and how to target your individual education to them
- how to adapt and create new Explain Pain curricula for your own special situations
The book is extensively cross-referenced with other mind body connection books including Explain Pain and the Explain Pain Handbook: Protectometer so that you’ll be able to enrich your patients experience no matter where they are on their pain journey.
