1886. New edition limited to 400 copies. [vi], 68pp. and a frontiispiece. This short work was originally published in 1821, and is full of curious anecdotes of the Scottish Gypsies. in his introduction the author provides a brief historical account of the origins of the Gypsies. The book is bound in the original grey-green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the front board. The case of the book is in good to very good condition with shelf wear and heavy damp fading and staining to both boards. The top corners and spine ends are bumped and there is a repaired split running across the cloth on the spine, about 2" from the top of the spine. There is also a thin split of about 1/2" in the cloth on the the front and rear spine edges. The contents are tight and clean apart from a few small marks from finger smudges, etc. The leaf containing pages 9 and 10 has a tear or cut of about 3" on the top edge that has old and newer repairs on page 10. The leaf containing pages 15 and 16 has a similar tear or cut that extends down its length and also has old and newer repairs on parts of both pages. There is no inscription.
