The cover has brown cloth. 624 pages; 16 plates of b/w illustrations; 2 black, white, and blue maps; index. Most of the spine strip is missing. The boards' corners are threadbare. The front endpaper's fold is split. The text block ends have darkened. Some of the pages have stains, mostly from fingerprints and water. A margin of a fold-out map is frayed.
