Exploring Airline History with David H. Stringer, Volume Three, Subjects O-W: The Airways Magazine Articles

David H. Stringer, the History Editor for AIRWAYS Magazine, has chronicled the story of commercial aviation with his airline history articles that have appeared in AIRWAYS over the course of two decades. Here, for the first time, is a compilation of those articles. Subjects O through W are presented in this third of three volumes. The individual histories of carriers such as Ozark Airlines, Southern Airways, United Airlines and Western Airlines are covered along with an in-depth look at Trans World Airlines (TWA) in the 1950s and 1960s. The importance of paper timetables, which served as an airline's primary advertising tool in the 1960s, is the topic of one chapter while the story of the first successful turboprop airliner, the Vickers Viscount, is presented in another. This well-illustrated volume is a must for anyone interested in the history of commercial aviation.
