Item description from seller

Language: ENGLISH. ABOUT THE BOOK:- The edited volume, Exploring the Indian Knowledge System: Heritage, Innovation, and Future Prospects, presents a rigorous, interdisciplinary examination of India’s epistemological heritage and its contemporary applications. Aligning closely with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the text evaluates how traditional frameworks serve as viable methodologies for modern academic, scientific, and socio-cultural reform. The research within the book is built upon several critical thematic axes. In the domain of science and policy, contributors analyse Vedic Mathematics, sustainable fiscal strategies derived from Kautilya’s Arthashastra, and a unified public health framework that integrates AYUSH practices with modern Allopathy. From a literary and Decolonial perspective, the volume offers feminist re-readings of Valmiki’s Ramayana, Eco-Critical Studies of Amitav Ghosh's Sea of Poppies, and Decolonial Critiques of territorial conquest. Furthermore, the collection bridges Eastern and Western paradigms by exploring the contemporary relevance of Bharata Muni's Natyashastra, evaluating Kathak as a vehicle for peace, and applying ?aturvidha Abhinaya to Western canonical poetry. Finally, the text delves into Metaphysical Psychology and Ethical Philosophy, investigating Universal Humanism in the Bhakti Movement, Global Citizenship, and the Management of Death Anxiety (Abhinivesha) through Yogic Psychology. Ultimately, this volume establishes the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) as a living, dynamic framework capable of addressing complex global inquiries. ABOUT THE EDITORS:- Professor Parmod Kumar is Professor of English at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, whose academic journey encompasses teaching, research, translation, publishing, and higher-education administration. His scholarly interests span New Literatures, World Literatures in English, Literary Theory and Criticism, Translation Studies, and South Asian literary and cultural studies. His interdisciplinary engagement with literature and culture has increasingly led him towards the intellectual traditions of India and the larger discourse of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS). The present book emerges from this sustained engagement and seeks to understand Indian knowledge not as a static inheritance of the past, but as a living, plural, and evolving intellectual tradition. It foregrounds the ways in which India’s philosophical, literary, cultural, educational, and ethical traditions have shaped distinctive ways of knowing, being, and relating to the world. By placing these traditions in conversation with contemporary scholarship, the book seeks to recover their intellectual vitality and explore their relevance to present-day education, society, culture, and nation-building. It thus contributes to the continuing dialogue between inherited wisdom and contemporary knowledge paradigms. Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Dwivedi is an Associate Professor at the School of Education & Humanities, Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, Haryana. He has eighteen years of rich experience in teaching and research in English Language and Literature. His research areas include Indian Writing in English, English Language Teaching, Soft Skills, Partition Literature, Postcolonial Studies, Gender Studies, and Indian Knowledge Systems. He completed his Ph.D. in English from Banaras Hindu University on the topic ‘Intercommunal Relations in Select Indian English Novels.’ Dr. Dwivedi has edited two other books Popular Reads: Critical Perspectives on Popular Literature (2025) and Reconfiguring Literary Canons: Critical Interventions in Indian Writing in English (2026).
