About the Author

BS (Chemistry), MA and PhD (Ancient Near Eastern Languages) from UCLA Mdiv from Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary (now Northwest Baptist Seminary) Taught at LA Baptist College and Seminary and still teaching at Northwest Baptist Seminary (Professor of Hebrew and OT) Coauthored (w/ Dick Patterson) Kings in EBC Contributed to the Theological Wordbook of the OT (Moody Press) Contributed to NIDOTT Wrote the commentaries on Nahum, Haggai, and Zechariah in the Evangelical Commentary on the Bible (Baker);The late Frank E. Gaebelein served as General Editor of the Expositor's bible Commentary. For many years he held the position of Headmaster of the Stony Brook School. On his retirement in 1963 until 1966 he was coeditor of Christianity Today. Until his death in 1983 he devoted himself to editing, writing, and speaking. Dr. Gaebelein was a graduate of New York University and Harvard University and received three honorary degrees. The position of Associate Editor was first held by Dr. J. D. Douglas of St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland. IN 1983 Richard P. Polcyn, who, as manuscript editor, had worked closely with Dr. Gaebelein for a number of years, assumed this position.;Richard D. Patterson (Ph.D., UCLA) is distinguished professor emeritus, Liberty University. He has been involved with eight different Bibleprojects either as translator, contributor, or research source, and has written for several major publishers and periodicals. He has served as associate editor of Zondervan's NIDOTTE and is currently authoring Joel and Kings (together with Hermann Austel) for the second edition of the Expositor's Bible Commentary. He and his wife Anna live in Simpsonville, South Carolina.;Edwin M. Yamauchi, who is originally from Hawaii, received hisPh.D. from Brandeis University in 1964. After teaching at RutgersUniversity, he has been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Ancient History at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, since 1969.
