Shearin analyzes the various forms and functions of purpose clauses in Old English, as well as their relationship to other types of clauses and their use in different genres of prose. The book includes extensive examples and analysis of purpose clauses in Old English texts, making it a valuable resource for scholars of Old English language and literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
