Extinct & Endangered : Insects in Peril

Extinct & Endangered is a stunning photographic exploration of some of the world's rarest and most threatened insects, revealing their extraordinary beauty while illuminating the urgent crisis of biodiversity loss.

Created in collaboration with the American Museum of Natural History, this remarkable volume features breathtaking large-format portraits by award-winning macro photographer Levon Biss, whose groundbreaking images uncover details invisible to the naked eye and transform tiny insects into monumental works of art.

Each image is created from thousands of individual photographs, meticulously combined to produce astonishing levels of clarity and detail. Working with specimens selected by scientists from the museum's world-renowned collections, Biss documents 40 extinct and endangered species, from beloved pollinators such as the monarch butterfly and nine-spotted ladybug to some of the world's rarest and most elusive insects.

The result is both a visual masterpiece and a powerful call to action. Through vivid colors, intricate forms, and microscopic details revealed at up to 300 times life size, Extinct & Endangered invites readers to discover the hidden wonders of insects and to reflect on their essential role in sustaining life on Earth.

Filled with awe-inspiring imagery and fascinating scientific insight, this oversized coffee table book celebrates the beauty of the natural world while reminding us of what stands to be lost if these remarkable creatures disappear forever.
