Buti�, belonging to the palm family, is a genus that contains about eight species found in South America, seven of which occur in Brazilian territory. Buti� fruits are perishable, deteriorating in a few days, which makes it difficult to market them fresh over long distances. For this reason, some regions of Brazil have never heard of the buti� plant. Its seeds, or almonds, are sources of lipids, presenting a high-energy alternative with potential for oil production. Thus, the main objective of this study was to analyse the composition of the oil extracted from buti� seeds (Butia eriosphata), aiming to add value and create an alternative for the technological use of this palm tree.
