夏勁戈，生於安徽省。少時因戰亂，輾轉大江南北。安居台灣後，在台南上中學，在台大念機械系。赴美深造，獲得 Purdue 大學博士學位。曾主編中國同學會季刊"普渡鐘聲"，及主演"梁祝"英語改編古裝劇中之梁山伯。任職美國國家標準及技術研究院，從事分光光度研究及服務工業界，發表專業論文六十篇。並曾任國際照明協會總會長。

作者愛與同好共事學習。曾任博城中文學校校長，華府書友會會長。常常參加書友會，詩友社，及作家協會等集會。

作者退休後也品嚐回饋社會的樂趣。曾任華盛頓美國航空與太空博物館之義工解說員，現任馬州蒙郡義工園藝大師，在其植物診所義務服務。期望繼續學習，成長，並服務他人。
