In this startling and passionate book, Aristide demonstrates why those on the bottom will never lie down. A graphic revelation of what happens when "free" trade overruns local markets, eradicates local economies, and creates dependence on foreign charity.
Jean-Bertrand Aristide was elected president of Haiti in 1990, and in 1991 he was forced into exile during a coup. With help from the UN, Aristide returned to Haiti to complete the remaining term of his presidency. He continues the work he began in the 80s through the Aristide Foundation for Democracy and Lafanmi Selavi, the center for street children he founded.
