Fay Burg (1916-2010) and her husband, Ralph owned the Quisisana Resort, on Lake Kezar in Lowell. Maine from 1948-1976. The resort, which is still in operation, was built by Kate A. Strauss, wife of a wealthy New York corset manufacturer. Edna Hibel is best know for her Mother and Child series of paintings and has earned an international reputation as an artist of exceptional talent. She is represented in various museums and galleries around the world.This book is a manifestation of a long time friendship between Fay Burg and Edna Hibel and the collection of recipes comes from Burg's 30 years of working with the European chefs at the Quisisana Resort. The volume contains classics such as brioche, hazelnut torte, oss bucco, and matzo balls,and regional recipes like Cold Peach Soup with Blueberry Garnish, New England Clam Chowder, Country Apple pie and Blueberry Pancakes. Quisisana is a music lake resort in Lovell, Maine, and offers a unique vacation experience. The staff each summer is made up of talented performers from the New England Conservatory of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, Tisch School of the Arts (NYU), and other fine schools.
