This book is a fascinating combination memoir, business, self-help, history, humor, philosophy, and psychology. You ll get a chuckle out of it as he recounts the Golden Years of broadcasting in the Old Pueblo and his stints as a TV clown and rock and roll disc jockey during the Beatles era. He quit his last "real job working for the man" in 1972. Since then he has created over 100 businesses. He started the infomercial industry in 1984. He also created what he called "The World's Most Important Website" and planned to sell it for over a billion dollars. Move over Mark Zuckerberg.
In his book he writes about:
His connections to famous folks from John Wayne to Osama Bin Laden. Really.
Almost sending a man and horse to their death jumping off a 42 story building.
Attempting to get a hippopotamus to open his mouth for a TV commercial.
Being totally broke in a cheap studio apartment; one year later owning a mansion and 6 cars including two Rolls Royces .
Building the internet before the internet.
Expecting the website he started would make Facebook look like small potatoes. (He was planning to sell it for 2 billion dollars)
Creating the world s largest watch store. The NBC Today Show was there, live!
Promoting Diving Mules, Singing Pigs, Teko the Talking Dog, and a Vietnamese Elvis.
Selling $3500 real Rolex watches for $19.97. Real Rolexes.
Being chased by an angry mob and protected by a Police Dept. Riot Squad.
Telling people who their dogs were as humans in a previous lifetime.
Producing a live 6-hour bingo show every night on national cable television.
He tells the unlikely story of the first American woman self-made millionaire (not inherited). Hint: She was not white and grew up in poverty and barely educated.
He also explains why an entrepreneur would run for president, despite the odds. (Suppose that would ever happen?) And, why he probably wouldn t be any good at it. His 320-page hard cover edition includes 22 Lindstrom's Laws for anyone who is or contemplates becoming an entrepreneur.
But, whether or not you care anything about business doesn t make any difference. The whole thing is a slice of history that is a fun read. If you do care about business, his book will be something to appreciate. If you are an entrepreneur, this book is an ABSOLUTE MUST.
A recovering alcoholic, former rock n roll deejay and TV clown who created the infomercial industry, the world's most important website, and over 100 other businesses. Every one was a success according to his definition.
He is a member of the Arizona Broadcasters Assn. Hall of Fame. He lives in Tucson, Arizona.
