Large folio, [220 x 336 mm]; bound in contemporary calf, borders in blind on front & rear covers, the spine with raised bands, contrasting leather title label "COKE'S INSTITUTES / FIRST PART / 1719". Finely engraved frontispiece portrait; Pp [i-xviii] [Title page, Preface, Original Subscribers of the 11th ed., Original Preface); Pp 1-100pp; [engraved plate], Pp1-402; [403: To The Reader]; Pp 1-74 [The Table] (Index). With three plates in total - the engraved frontispiece, engraved plate at p 100, and afolding plate of degrees of parentage inserted at p 19 of The First Part of the Insttutes. The folding plate has a tear at the lower right egdge (no loss). Text & Plates complete. Binding scuffed, spine label replaced (looks modern); small pencil marks to marhgins; overall a sound, good copy. The Eleventh edition, the most important of the later editions of Coke's great commentary upon Littleton, first published in 1628.
