FLYING STARS - THE MOVING ARCHITECTURE OF TIME

What if a building could be read not only through space, but through time?

FLYING STARS: THE MOVING ARCHITECTURE OF TIME offers a comprehensive and practical exploration of Xuan Kong Flying Stars Feng Shui, presenting the traditional system through the language of contemporary architecture and interior design.

Rather than treating the nine Flying Stars as fixed predictions or reducing Feng Shui to annual lists of lucky and unlucky directions, this book explains the mechanism behind the method. It shows how the Lo Shu, the Five Phases, building period, facing and sitting directions, natal charts, Mountain and Water Stars, and annual and monthly movements interact to create a changing spatial reading.

The central idea is simple: the building remains, but the temporal layer changes.

Through detailed explanations, diagrams, residential and workplace examples, complete case studies, and practical audit procedures, the reader learns how to move from calculation to real spatial decisions. A difficult elemental relationship does not automatically require a symbolic object or traditional “cure.” It may instead call for a change in material, color, form, lighting, circulation, furniture position, activity, or room use.

Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water are therefore explored not merely as symbolic categories, but as qualities that can be expressed through contemporary design: timber and vertical growth, light and visual focus, stone and stability, metal and precision, reflection and movement.

The book covers the complete process—from the 180-year San Yuan cycle and Period 9 to the Twenty-Four Mountains, natal chart construction, annual overlays, room-by-room interpretation, renovation, apartments, workplaces, uncertainty, and professional reporting.

Above all, this is a book about judgment rather than formulas. It respects Flying Stars as a traditional time–space system while clearly distinguishing its symbolic framework from scientific causation and from the technical requirements of architecture, health, safety, and building performance.

For designers, Feng Shui practitioners, students, and readers who want to understand not only where the stars are, but what to do with that information in a real space.

Time moves. Architecture remains. Design becomes the meeting point between them.
