lvi (text) pp., 306 halftone photo plates; quarto, green cloth with gilt leather title labels to spine and front cover. Text in Italian. A wealth of images of Italian architecture, architectural ornament, fountains, statuary, etc. The previous owner of this book was John Branner Newsom (1897-1988), son of Stanford Geology Professor John F. Newsom. In 1923-24 Newsom, Jr. built a small house in Palo Alto at 758 Everett Avenue. Perhaps some ideas for finishing touches were found in this book! Spine faded, spine label chipped, covers lightly rubbed, previous owner name to front free endpaper, else very good.

Store description

We had our open bookshop in the town of Sonoma for a total of 17 years, including 9 years at our East Napa St. location, however, as of April 13, 2013 we have closed our doors. Our business is now conducted online, by appointment, and occasionally at antiquarian bookfairs at which we exhibit annually. Chanticleer Books is a sole-proprietorship owned and operated by Steve Blackmer, a full-time bookseller since 1985 and member of the Antiquarian Booksellers¿ Association of America (ABAA) from 1998 to 2026
