About the Author
Fran Fleegler, M.D., was educated at the University of Pittsburgh medical school and the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as a clinical associate professor in the medical school. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical oncology and the American College of Sports Medicine, and serves as a clinical advisor for the American Running Association. Dr. Fleegler, who is herself a competitive distance runner, lives in Boulder, Colorado, where she is affiliated with Rocky Mountain Cancer Center.
John Hanc is a writer specializing in active sports and fitness. A columnist and contributing writer to Newsday and a frequent contributor to Runner’s World magazine, Hanc has written four previous books, including The Essential Runner and Running for Dummies, which he co-authored with the late Florence Griffith Joyner.
