Copyright date is 1904, 1st edition. Illustrated by the author. beautifully bound in bright red cloth, and profusely illustrated with fine color plates, this is The Forest of Arden, with some of its Legends of Castle, Knight and Maid. Written and Pictured by George Wharton Edwards, published by Frederick A. Stokes Co., New York. Sized 10x7 inches, 216 pages, some pages still uncut. GREAT condition, virtually as new. Arden is an area, located mainly in Warwickshire, England, and also part of Staffordshire and Worcestershire traditionally regarded as extending from the River Avon to the River Tame. It was once heavily wooded, giving rise to the name 'Forest of Arden'. It does not seem that the area was subject to forest law however. Text and illustrations are bright and clean, binding is secure, a solid collectible book. Size: 4to - over 9" x 12" Tall.
