Brown decorated cloth with beveled edges, inc. gilt profile of Queen Victoria centre front; clean but rubbing to some edges especially top spine region. also now somewhat dull. All edges gilt. f/piece with tissue guard + 192, 3 engraved plates with tissue guards, 2 being tinted, undated t.p.; end-gutters cracked but secure, several further incipient openings, free end-papers tanned, esp. to outer sides, front end-paper has inscription 'Presented to Our Daughter Nellie On her 8 Birthday, January 11th 1892', thus providing an ante quem publication year. Numerous entries to r.h. 'Memorandum' pages, in a variety of hands, nearly all siingle names but one 7 line for May 5th: 'Dorris May Archer Borne (sic) May 5th 1893 at 5 minutes past 5 in the morning After a Troubled but Loving 1 year & 9 Months she passed away on February 26th 1895 at 1/2 Past 5 at night'. Apparently rare with no web-matches found at time of listing. 9.5 cm x 12.7 cm.
