xxiv, 637, [ii = blank], 223 pp, complete with engraved frontispiece, 1 folding map and 14 full page engraved plates. Bound in early eighteenth century full calf (worn with minor loss to extremities), respined in matching leather with five raised spine bands, gilt lettered green leather title label to second compartment and gilt lettered date direct to foot of spine. Sporadic light staining and paper browning, somewhat heavier to plates as often, otherwise a complete clean copy inscribed by Frederic Halford to his son Ernest on opening blank. FredericHalford, writing as 'Detached Badger', is generally regarded as 'the father of modern dry fly fishing'. Very good copy.
