Clive L. Spash, uno de los economistas ecol�gicos que m�s irreverentemente ha contribuido en las �ltimas d�cadas a construir y fundamentar una visi�n radical de la econom�a ecol�gica y social, dedica este libro a explorar y proyectar, de modo algo provocativo, su evoluci�n, apoy�ndose de manera consciente en los fracasos de la econom�a ambiental, las tensiones con la econom�a convencional y la necesidad de aportar un nuevo enfoque de cara a la crisis ecosocial. Si, por un lado, la econom�a ortodoxa ha sido incapaz de abordar las dimensiones social y ambiental como aspectos de crucial importancia para entender el funcionamiento y reproducci�n de los sistemas econ�micos, por el otro, las corrientes heterodoxas, como el socialismo/marxismo, el feminismo, el poskeynesianismo o la econom�a institucional, tampoco han sabido incorporar de manera coherente esas mismas dimensiones en sus an�lisis y propuestas. De este modo, cuestiones como la multidisciplinariedad, el pluralismo y la integraci�n de las ciencias, las relaciones entre pensamiento econ�mico ortodoxo y heterodoxo o de c�mo podr�a dise�arse una agenda ecol�gica y socialmente transformadora de la econom�a son analizadas pormenorizadamente en esta obra. El autor logra as� dise�ar un conjunto actualizado y revisado de posiciones que aportan una perspectiva compleja e integradora de la econom�a ecol�gica y social en t�rminos ontol�gicos, epistemol�gicos, metodol�gicos e ideol�gicos, porque cabe considerar que “�solo hay alternativas!”.

About the Author

Clive L. Spash es profesor de Pol�ticas P�blicas y Gobernanza en la Universidad de Econom�a y Negocios de Viena, editor jefe de la revista Environmental Values y antiguo presidente la Sociedad Europea de Econom�a Ecol�gica. Como economista ecol�gico, sus esfuerzos se han centrado en la transformaci�n ecosocial y el cambio de paradigma en el pensamiento econ�mico. Ha publicado sobre econom�a, econom�a pol�tica, psicolog�a social, evaluaci�n de proyectos y pol�ticas, pol�tica ambiental, filosof�a y �tica. Durante m�s de treinta a�os, ha investigado sobre el cambio clim�tico, la p�rdida de biodiversidad, la contaminaci�n del aire y la conservaci�n y los usos del suelo.
