The second edition corrected and amended. 32 by 20 cms. (8)+476 pp. with a pictorial frontispiece woodblock print of Aesop surrounded with birds and animals. Page 475/476, the final page, is a facsimile copy bound in. This copy lacks the second plate, an engraving of L'Estrange which is found in other editions. The front pastedown bears the bookplate of Francis Gwyn of Lansanor in the County of Glamorgan and of Ford Abby in the County of Devon 1698. In a contemporary calf binding, blindstamped rectangular panels to boards, six panelled spine with raised bands, no spine label. The spine has been professionally relaid, some scuffing and loss of surface leather to parts of the boards. Internally tight, bright and clean. Overall a good copy which shows some signs of its three hundred years. Seller Inventory # 14482
