Very finely bound in full red leather elaborately gilt bordered with laurel wreath "Langue Francaise / Monsieur de Palmas 1870". All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. x + 512pp with numerous illustrations. Covers near-fine with gilt bright. Spine slightly darkened with minor loss to head. Rubbed to extremities. Some marks to the boards. Gilt to text block shiny to fore and bottom, dulled slightly to top. Pages fine and clean with some spotting. Two very neat contemporary presentation inscriptions to ffep.
