The Faces of D-Day

Commemorates U.S. soldiers from all branches of military service who participated in the largest military operation ever recorded in history. In one night and day, June 5th and 6th 1944, 175,000 soldiers were transported across the English Channel. Approximately 5,300 ships and 11,000 aircraft took part in this historic assault. When the day was over, Allies forces had suffered more than 9,500 casualties.

The Faces of D-Day includes hundreds of photographs of American men who fought at Normandy, and tells the stories of their experiences-in many cases, in their own words.
