Facility Management is the ultimate reference for facility and design professionals who want to create a productive workplace that corresponds to the short- and long-term goals of their corporation. This indispensable handbook takes an executive management perspective and provides comprehensive, detailed information on all the specific tasks critical for making effective and ultimately profitable decisions. Following the nine core responsibilities identified by the International Facility Management Association, the authors guide the reader through critical planning and decision-making steps in strategic planning, financial forecasting, real estate acquisition and disposition, architectural and engineering design, interior programming and space planning, project management, renovation projects, maintenance, operations, and administrative services. Interwoven among the fundamentals are approaches to today's most challenging issues: changing technology, indoor environments, energy conservation, ergonomics, health and safety, inventory, and security.

To illustrate and clarify often complex issues, the authors include a number of real-world examples and provide policies, procedures, forms, and exhibits that can be easily applied to specific businesses and operations. Supplementing their practical approach are important ethical discussions, career planning suggestions, and a revealing look at the future of the profession.

Facility Management addresses the needs of experienced facility professionals, students, and professionals in other areas trying to start a new career. It provides comprehensive, insightful, and thorough preparation for the challenges and opportunities awaiting facility professionals in the twenty-first century.

"This is an excellent publication that should be part of every facility manager's library. It is a well-organized encyclopedia, full of useful tips, advice and suggestions for the seasoned manager and the facility newcomer." — Arthur P. Hahn Vice President Operations Facilities West
