When going for a drink with her boyfriend's sister, Ryana, an attractive girl, realising it's no ordinary pub, but a brothel, she runs away. The owner, Harry Trimboli wants her and caught her, but she escapes to her boyfriend Richard who had just passed his violin examination. As Richard is playing with the Symphony Orchestra, Ryana watches him on television and excitedly phones her brother Nicholas in New York when there's a knock on the door calling fl owers. When she sees it's Harry, she screams as he drugs her and takes her to an old house he just bought. Nicholas still on the phone alerts police who are there when Richard arrives home to fi nd out Ryanna has been kidnapped, and blaming himself he smashes his violin.

About the Author
A member of the Australian Society of Authors and a diploma graduate of a world renowned correspondence writing school. Alida van den Bos was born in Arnhem, Holland in 1930 and later educated in Tilburg. With her husband and two children, Alida emigrated to Australia in 1959 where adventure beckoned and the family tried opal digging in Coober Pedy and Lightning Ridge. While living in the opal fi elds she wrote at every opportunity, using her life experiences to produce a series of short stories. A move to the mid-western New South Wales town of Orange followed where Alida gave birth to her third child and with her husband started a horse stud, aptly named Running Hoofs, leading to success in local and metropolitan racecourses. During this time she continued storing ideas and data to develop fi ctional novels, of which she now has written eight, including The Story of Prisoner Number 329, Dead Certainty, Amy and the Skeleton Key and Jennifer and the Bunker of Horrors.
