Facing Racism: Overcome Unconscious Bias and Prejudice to Be a Part of the Change

"What can white people do to help fight racism?"

By now, we've all heard "not being racist is not enough," but what exactly is the role of white Americans in dismantling racism and prejudice in our culture?

Let's be honest, taking your first steps in the equity and social justice space in 2023 can be intimidating. There are all these terms to learn and books you have to catch up on. You feel like you should speak out, but you read something about "performative allyship" and can't stop worrying that you might make a mistake. On top of that, conversations about race bring up a discomfort you don't fully understand and can't seem to shake.

Racism is a layered and nuanced societal problem. Understanding it well will take time. Fortunately, you don't have to be an expert to be a part of the movement. In this rerelease of his #1 bestseller, Smith combines honest, relatable stories and a gentle voice to educate and inspire so readers of every background can get a better grasp of concepts like centering whiteness, unconscious bias, the shadow self, and otherization.

This is must-read for anyone wanting to go beyond the awareness to making meaningful strides toward a better society.
