About the Author: Lie ZHANG obtained his BEng in Mechanical Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology and his MSc in Advanced Mechnical Engineering from Imperial College, London. He received his PhD degree in failure assessment of pipelines from Wessex Institute of Technology in 2008.

Dr. Zhang joined BEASY in 2005 as a research engineer and since then he has been involved in several European projects. He specializes in fracture mechanics and failure assessment of shell-like structures. He is also proficient in programming, including Java and C.
