The first edition.Very scarce. Written by Charlotte Maria Tucker under the pseudonym A.L.O.E which stands for a Lady of England. Charlotte Maria Tucker was a prolific British writer and poet. She wrote both children's and adult works of fiction.Her work as a children's writer focuses on her Evangelical religious beliefs. Most of her stories are allegories with clear moral messages. Her stories included elements of realism and naturalism which softens the moral messages.
